Spirits, denatured spirits and alcoholic preparations

Spirits are ethyl alcohol and an aqueous solution of ethyl alcohol containing more than 80 per cent by volume of ethyl alcohol. Licence to import, produce, wholesale or use spirits is applied from Valvira.

Towards the new Finnish Supervisory Agency

Licensing and supervision of alcohol matters will be transferred to the Finnish Supervisory Agency on 1 January 2026.

Alcohol trade register Allu

The National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira) and the Regional State Administrative Agencies maintain the Allu alcohol trade register, in which information about alcohol operators, alcohol licences and alcoholic products, as well as their production and reporting, is saved.
