All changes to records of student progress and qualifications in the VIRTA and KOSKI information systems must be reported to Valvira

Universities and vocational schools keep records of student progress and qualifications in the VIRTA and KOSKI information systems. These databases give public authorities reliable and consistent information to support them in their statutory tasks.

Valvira uses a technical interface to access the VIRTA and KOSKI systems for the purpose of issuing rights to practise social welfare and health care professions on the basis of qualifications obtained in Finland. This speeds up the process of allowing social welfare and health care professionals to find work in their field.

Universities use the VIRTA system to keep records of their students’ progress and qualifications. Vocational schools use the KOSKI system to keep records of their students’ progress and qualifications. The Studyinfo portal allows citizens to view their personal education records.

What changes must be reported to Valvira?

Data on the qualifications and training needed to obtain the right to practise a profession are transferred to Valvira automatically. However, Valvira needs to be notified separately whenever an educational institution makes changes retrospectively to the following information in the VIRTA or KOSKI systems

  • Qualifications
  • Competencies
  • Registrations
  • Rights to study

Such changes can be reported by e-mail to [email protected]. Please note that regular e-mail is not recommended for sending confidential information. Confidential information such as personal data can be sent via Valvira’s secure e-mail service.
