Spirits are ethyl alcohol and an aqueous solution of ethyl alcohol containing more than 80 per cent by volume of ethyl alcohol. Licence to import, produce, wholesale or use spirits is applied from Valvira.

Current issues

New alcohol trade register Allu has been deployed successfully

Electronic services in the updated alcohol trade register Allu are now available in Finnish and Swedish. The register’s e-services will also be available in English later.

The National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira) and the Regional State Administrative Agencies maintain the Allu alcohol trade register, in which information about alcohol operators, alcohol licences and alcoholic products, as well as their production and reporting, is saved.
