Alcohol

The purpose of the Alcohol Act is to prevent detrimental societal, social and health effects caused by alcoholic substances by controlling the consumption of alcohol. Valvira is tasked with performing a number of licensing, supervisory and guidance activities.

Towards the new Finnish Supervisory Agency

Licensing and supervision of alcohol matters will be transferred to the Finnish Supervisory Agency on 1 January 2026.

Alcohol trade register Allu

The National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira) and the Regional State Administrative Agencies maintain the Allu alcohol trade register, in which information about alcohol operators, alcohol licences and alcoholic products, as well as their production and reporting, is saved.
