Guideline for applying the regulations on household water

The guideline for applying the regulations on household water covers the regulation-specific application of the Health Protection Act, Household Water Decree, Health Protection Decree and the Government Decree on risk management and self-monitoring of the household water production chain and grounds for maximum values. 

Valvira, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Regional State Administrative Agencies, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, and the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority have compiled a guideline for applying the regulations on household water, including necessary guidelines for unified monitoring at a national level. The application guideline is intended for the municipal health protection authorities, water supply plants and other experts. 

The application guideline is being updated

The Drinking Water Directive was implemented in national legislation on 12 January 2023. In implementing the directive, regulations such as the Health Protection Act, Household Water Decree, Health Protection Decree and the Government Decree on risk management and self-monitoring of the household water production chain were amended. Valvira is currently compiling an up-to-date guideline for applying the regulations on household water in cooperation with experts.
