The activities of Valvira will end at the end of this year. Valviras tasks will be transferred to the new Finnish Supervisory Agency, which will launch its operations on 1 January 2026. This new authority will assume all the duties of Valvira, most of the duties of the Regional State Administrative Agencies and the majority of the duties of the Environment and Natural Resources area of responsibility of the Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment. The independent authorities operating in connection with Valvira — the Finnish Adoption Board and the National Committee on Medical Research Ethics (Tukija) — will also be transferred to the new Finnish Supervisory Agency on 1 January 2026.
