The Finnish Adoption Board will be transferred to the Finnish Supervisory Agency on 1 January 2026 – operations to continue unchanged

On 1 January 2026, the Finnish Adoption Board will be transferred to the new Finnish Supervisory Agency. The Finnish Adoption Board continues as before as an independent authority. The statutory operations and tasks of the Finnish Adoption Board will remain unchanged. The term of office of the Finnish Adoption Board, which began on 1 July 2022, will continue as intended until 30 June 2027.

The Finnish Adoption Board will continue to process adoption permit applications, accreditation matters for intercountry adoption, supervision and monitoring the development of adoption matters in Finland. The Finnish Adoption Board continues as the Central Adoption Authority under the Hague Convention.

New website for information on operations

As of next year, application forms for adoption permission can be found on the new website of the Finnish Adoption Board adoptiolautakunta.fi. The forms will remain available on our current website until 31 December.

The website of the Finnish Adoption Board will be given a new visual identity, and a logo will be introduced for the Finnish Adoption Board.

New contact details from New Year 2026

The contact details of the Finnish Adoption Board will change on 1 January 2026. The new email address of the Finnish Adoption Board is [email protected]. The new email addresses of the staff of the Finnish Adoption Board will follow the form [email protected]. There will be a transition period during which messages sent to the old email addresses will be automatically forwarded to the new addresses.
